4 years of experience make Webmecanik the Mautic specialist in France

It has now been 4 years since Webmecanik offers its version of marketing automation based on mautic open source for TPEs, SMEs, mid-sized enterprises (ETIs), large groups, and Startups. To be precise, it dates back to the 1.1.2 version (2.15.1 to date) of mautic, released on June 9, 2015.
This history allows us to state that today we are the biggest mautic specialist in France, and even in Europe. A source of pride for the Webmecanik team, built on several pillars—pillars without which it would seem inappropriate to claim our expertise.

Mautic is the Open Source Marketing Automation solution that makes it possible to interact with visitors, contacts, prospects, and customers in a personalized way. The assurance that they evolve through their buying journey is what we call nurturing.

The history with Mautic and marketing automation

As explained in the introduction, we became interested in this open-source project back in 2015, from its very beginning. In addition, we had a few years of partnership with an American vendor that enabled us to distribute its solution exclusively until our investment in open source. That is about a decade of expertise in the marketing automation world.

Our history with mautic—what does it represent today?

  • 75 software versions, including a major one (mautic 2.x). All tested, improved, and deployed for our customers
  • More than 500 instance deployments
  • A contribution to the project that makes us the 2nd-largest contributor in the world (after mautic inc.); I’ll come back to this in the third paragraph.
  • +70 web or marketing agencies that use Webmecanik automation for themselves and their clients

This history is very important to us.
Indeed, it allows us to have a very clear view of the direction the open-source project is taking, to know all its players, to be recognized as an actor, and to master every corner of the application. That last point opens up endless prospects for evolution and integrations.

Managing Mautic at scale

Deploying more than 500 instances has allowed us to industrialize our processes in order to provide our customers with a high-quality service (100% SLA over the last 3 months).
It is also a reliable way to benefit from the growth of an open-source application while benefiting from the stability of a slower-to-grow application in proprietary software. In practice, on average there are 3 updates every two months—ensuring unparalleled functional progress, with software that stays current.

Just as many customers and users also means just as many use cases that have enriched our marketing, sales, and support expertise. Today you can find case studies across many industries (such as in tourism, for example), as well as high-quality, hands-on support and guidance from our strategist trainers, where some people simply sell a piece of software.

Also, a support hub full of content and FAQs that satisfies 98% of our customers (study conducted across all our customers with 468 responses to the questionnaire).

All of this boils down to a stable, maintained version over time, always ahead of the community version that sometimes follows a more structured cycle. We don’t wait for releases—we shape them.

Contribution to Mautic

Haha… This is a big topic that I particularly care about. I’ve had the chance to address it several times. Indeed, open source is a concept, a philosophy. Everything is based on a community, and that word is very important. Webmecanik benefits from this community, but to call yourself an expert in an open-source community, you have to be one of its actors—we’re talking about contributors. Make sure your open-source experts are always contributors; it gives you greater expertise and ensures that your expert embraces the very concept of open source.

And on this point, we have nothing to be ashamed of. Quite the opposite! Today we are the 2nd-largest contributor worldwide to this project, along with mautic inc. themselves. This involves several aspects:

  • Marketing and support contributions: +400 times
  • Functional contributions and bugs: +300 times

And beyond the product itself, the community is also about managing/administrating/animating an international team (±100 contributors/developers, +30,000 users).

Proximity to Mautic

Yes, this intensive presence since the beginning of the project has allowed us to join the community’s “core” team. This enables us to influence and organize the community from a functional, technical, or marketing perspective.

In this context, we are very invested in mautic’s future, and the news is mautic 3.x. The next major version of the application will bring yet another incredible milestone to the mautic project and the marketing automation world.
