MailChimp vs. Webmecanik

I hear more and more people asking me how MailChimp manages to offer a solution called Automation (and not Marketing Automation) that is so inexpensive compared with our Marketing Automation software such as Webmecanik.

Let’s take the time to compare the tools

Yes, because it’s all well and good to want to compare prices, but comparing the prices of equivalent products is better. It is indeed not rational to compare a city car and a sports car based only on price, otherwise many enthusiasts of red cars would end up in a Clio.

What MailChimp does well!

MailChimp is a very good email marketing solution

At very competitive prices with a functional and very pleasant user interface, we are dealing with a truly accomplished solution.

They recently launched a module called Automation that is making a lot of noise, but in concrete terms, does this make it possible to replace your Marketing Automation solution? NO.

Simple segmentation

Indeed, MailChimp renamed its module formerly called Autoresponder to Automation.
You can create segments based on interactions with an email campaign (clicked, opened…), and according to socio-demographic criteria.

Autoresponder-like triggers

You can trigger automated emails following a download, after submitting a form or a request for information. In short, very functional and relevant follow-ups if they are well targeted!

Why it is not in the same league as Marketing Automation

Quite simply because the advanced functions of a Marketing Automation solution like Webmecanik are not there. You will not find:

  • Behavioral tracking
  • Behavioral segmentation
  • Landing page editing
  • Advanced social media features (for example, Webmecanik will integrate Oktopost: learn more here)
  • SMS (coming soon to Webmecanik)
  • Triggering actions in a CRM
  • Behavioral scoring
  • Triggers based on scoring
  • Progressive profiling forms

In conclusion: there is no match

Quite simply because we are not comparing the same thing.
MailChimp is a very good solution for email marketing and a first step toward automation, but very far from the features of any Marketing Automation tool.
