Webmecanik has now been offering its version of marketing automation based on open source Mautic for VSEs, SMEs, mid-sized companies, large groups and startups for 4 years. To be precise, this dates back to the version 1.1.2 (2.15.1 as of today) of Mautic dated June 9, 2015.
This track record allows us to state that today we are the leading Mautic specialist in France and even in Europe. A source of pride for the Webmecanik team, which has been built on several pillars. Pillars without which it would seem inappropriate to claim expertise.

Our history with Mautic and marketing automation
As explained in the introduction, we have been interested in this open source project since 2015, meaning since its inception. Added to that are the few years of partnership we had with an American software vendor that allowed us to distribute its solution exclusively until we invested in open source. That amounts to around ten years of expertise in the world of marketing automation.
What does our history with Mautic represent today?
- 75 versions of the software, including one major release (Mautic 2.x). All tested, improved and deployed for our customers
- More than 500 instance deployments
- A contribution to the project that makes us the 2nd-largest contributor worldwide (after Mautic Inc.); I will come back to this in the 3rd section.

This history is very important to us.
Indeed, it gives us a very clear vision of the direction the open source project is taking, allows us to know all of its players, to be a recognized player ourselves, and to master every corner of the application. This last point opens up limitless prospects for evolution and integration.
Managing Mautic at scale
The deployment of more than 500 instances has allowed us to industrialize our processes in order to offer our customers a high-quality service (100% SLA over the last 3 months).
It is also a reliable way to benefit from the growth of an open source application while also enjoying the stability of an application that grows more slowly with proprietary software. Indeed, we are talking about an average of 3 updates every 2 months; it is the guarantee of unmatched functional progress, of software that stays current.

Haha… Now that’s a vast topic that is especially close to my heart. I have had the opportunity to discuss it several times. Open source is a concept, a philosophy. Everything is based on a community, and that word is very important. Webmecanik benefits from this community, but to claim to be an expert in an open source community, you have to be an active part of it; that is what being a contributor means. Make sure your open source experts are always contributors; this ensures greater expertise and that your expert truly adheres to the very concept of open source.
And on this point, we have nothing to be ashamed of. Quite the opposite! Today we are the 2nd-largest contributor worldwide to this project, alongside Mautic Inc. themselves. This covers several aspects:
- Marketing and support contributions: +400 times
- Functional and bug contributions: +300 times
And beyond the product itself, the community also involves managing/administering/leading an international team (±100 contributors/developers, +30,000 users).

Yes, this intensive involvement since the beginning of the project has enabled us to join the community’s “core” team. This allows us to influence and organize the community from a functional, technical and marketing standpoint.
