According to a Harvard/MIT study, being happy at work makes you 31% more productive. Happy employees are 2 times less likely to get sick, 6 times less absent, 9 times more loyal, and 55% more creative. And since that’s exactly what we want for ourselves at Webmecanik, we’ve made it our priority!
Onboarding:
From day one, they are given a small welcome kit (book by Stéphane Couleaud, President of Webmecanik, “Marketing Automation”, an Opinel knife branded with the Webmecanik name, a water bottle in our brand colors, and a Webmecanik logo sweatshirt), helping foster the corporate spirit in which the team operates. We then make sure to train everyone on our software and support them in their first steps at Webmecanik!
Hapiness Hero:
We have a happiness hero on the team.
To encourage team cohesion, she devotes 20% of her working time to workplace well-being: weekly snack breaks, sporty or refreshing after-work get-togethers, and seminars throughout the year. Nurturing this corporate spirit helps bring teams together, improve communication between the technical, sales, marketing and communications teams, as well as the members of the executive committee, thereby maintaining a great atmosphere among colleagues. And everyone is a fan of our Hapiness Hero !
Workspace:
Well-being at work also involves optimizing the workspace. We recently made changes aimed at improving the team’s comfort: lowering desks and purchasing new chairs to encourage better posture at work. Every day, we pay attention to everyone’s needs. Exercise balls are also available to help you sit perfectly upright (and get rock-solid abs)!
We brighten up our offices, particularly with plants that absorb electromagnetic waves (they actually missed those waves during lockdown 🙁 ). If you have any tips to help our happiness hero discover a green thumb, we’re all ears!
Providing a functional kitchen allows the team to eat on-site (and Constance to bake wonderful cakes). We also have a shower for the greatest delight of those who work out in the morning or during their lunch break (and their office neighbors).
Everyone’s comfort also depends on a workplace that combines functionality, comfort and ergonomics.
Health insurance:
Choosing a health insurance plan that covers 5 alternative medicine sessions per year allows Webmecanik employees to regularly benefit from a shiatsu massage therapist without any direct cost. A relaxing atmosphere guaranteed!
Reducing your stress level by enjoying a massage during your lunch break is the kind of little luxury Webmecanik puts in place for its employees.
We regularly review the team’s needs, expectations and wishes in order to offer sessions with professionals, and yoga classes are being planned.
Work / personal life:
The personal lives of our employees are very important to us. Based in Annecy, we offer a pleasant living environment, ideal for enjoying many outdoor sports. Communication within the team is a priority: everyone is listened to and valued. To go even further, a Typeform questionnaire is regularly sent out to gather new improvement ideas.
Exploring the possibility of working longer each day in order to have more days off per week or more vacation days per year is currently one of the areas under consideration at Webmecanik, in consultation with team members.
We are also considering increasing the number of remote working days while maintaining team closeness through a weekly check-in on everyone’s tasks. We also adapt staff working hours to suit individual rhythms.
Offboarding:
At Webmecanik, when team members leave for new professional projects, we also send a questionnaire to alumni in order to identify areas for improvement and propose innovative ideas based on their feedback, always with the aim of improving the quality of life and well-being at work of our team members.
As you’ve probably gathered, listening and open exchange are important values in our team!
And you, what do you do in your company to optimize well-being at work for your employees? Do our ideas inspire you?
We are sure you have plenty of tips to suggest to us—we’re all ears!
