Based in Annecy, between lake and mountain, Webmecanik is a company committed to protecting the environment.
Keen to contribute to the local economy, limit its carbon footprint, and get involved with mountain protection associations, Webmecanik is thinking about the future.
Committed to a local association
Through our support as a member of the Mountain Wilderness association, we promote the values it represents: love of nature, respect for natural balances, and support for a diverse mountain economy. This association currently has four ongoing campaigns:
The first aims to dismantle obsolete installations, whether they are tourist, industrial, agricultural, or military. These installations pollute and are dangerous for walkers and animals. Indeed, since no law requires these installations to be dismantled—except in the ski industry—it seems essential to us to help protect the mountains through this kind of action.
At Webmecanik, we plan to act as active volunteers in mountain clean-up operations and the dismantling of obsolete installations.
Next comes the Change Approach campaign, aimed at raising hikers’ awareness of the consequences of a round trip by car for a hike. The Camptocamp portal is specifically designed to share useful tips on ecotourism.
Tourism transition for a mountain to be enjoyed and an approach that supports the local economy.
Finally, the “Silence” campaign opposes motorized leisure activities in the mountains.
Actions every day in our offices
Still in line with our commitment to respecting the environment, we have chosen paperless invoicing in order to limit paper use. Our communications with our customers take place by email, and their invoices can be downloaded from the mywebmecanik portal. This way, our customers are under no obligation to print their invoices. This way of operating allows our company and our customers to keep printing rates low and environmentally responsible.
To limit our carbon footprint, our policy is to regularly delete our archived emails. A standard email generates an average of 4 g of CO2. Major changes come from taking small-scale actions that are achievable.
The current trend among companies is toward reducing travel.
New at Webmecanik: the rollout of e-learning.
Providing remote training by developing the tools available allows our trainers to stay close to our customers without having to travel.
Remote work is also one of the measures implemented at Webmecanik, so that employees can limit their commuting.
By limiting our personal and business travel, we stay on course toward a lower carbon footprint.
You have probably noticed: Webmecanik makes it a point of honor to select its suppliers based on their proximity, in order to contribute to the local economy. From producing promotional items by working with co-made, a company based in Annecy, to drinking fair trade coffee, to buying local raw materials or at the very least “made in France” for the famous weekly Webmecanik snack, we do our best to do better.
Webmecanik is also a team of employees who feel close to nature, to the point that bicycle parking has become a real issue for us (and our parking spaces are empty)!
The team is driven by this love of nature: if you are looking for our Webmecanik employees at the weekend, our avid athletes are probably out running on Mont Veyrier, La Tournette, or paddling on Lake Annecy!
