Mix Learning: the promise of successful marketing training

Are you looking for professional training in marketing? Between FOAD, blended learning, mix learning, MOOC, FOAD , MOOC, are you lost? This choice is not insignificant, so here is a short guide to help you see things more clearly!

Blended learning: definition

Let’s start with a few definitions.

Mix-learning  or blended learning :

these are hybrid learning methods that combine the strengths of other learning formats. Some modules are in person, others are remote or pre-recorded. There may also be documents to read or quizzes.

FOAD :

it is the acronym for “Open and Distance Learning”. It refers to distance learning that allows everyone to work independently, at their own pace. This includes e-learning, blended-learning, mixed learning, MOOCs, etc.

E-learning :

this includes all online training courses

MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) :

these are open online courses. Unlike e-learning, learning is not supervised.

Which training format should you choose?

FOADs are definitely the winning bet for successful training. However, as you have understood, this includes several subcategories: e-learning, MOOC, mix learning, blended learning, etc. Here are the advantages and disadvantages of each.

E-learning

Pros

  • No travel

Travel expenses and travel time are saved!

  • More flexibility

Training courses are generally open access: the learner can access them whenever they want.

Cons

  • No human contact

These training courses can isolate the learner, who is alone behind their computer

  • Impersonal content

Since there is no interaction between the learner and the instructor, the training is not tailored to the learner.

MOOC

Pros

  • Limited cost

Classes are open access, so the cost is very low

  • Opportunity to take high-level courses

Some classes come from courses at major universities and are therefore unique opportunities to take the world’s most sought-after classes.

Cons

  • No certifications

Generally, these online open-access lessons are not certified. It is therefore impossible to test your skills or provide proof of your newly acquired knowledge.

  • No interaction

No interaction between the learner and the teacher is possible. Not ideal for asking questions!

Blended Learning

Pros

  • Human interaction: the trainer is available and engaged to answer questions and adapt the training to each case.
  • Certification: blended learning also includes quizzes and questionnaires, so the learner can test themselves and a certificate is often awarded
  • Flexibility: the learner can organize their training as they wish.

Cons

  • The cost is slightly higher

All these training courses available online have their advantages and disadvantages. Blended learning is the most comprehensive, and will suit the greatest number of people.
