The news is very fresh, just a few months after Acquia acquired Mautic, a new investor is entering the company’s ownership, valuing Acquia at $1 billion.
This announcement should not bring any fundamental changes to the open-source communities of Mautic and Drupal as announced by Dries Buytaert (founder of Drupal and CEO of Acquia) on his website. On the contrary, it is a very strong sign for the marketing software market! Open-source solutions, already very established in the CMS world (WordPress, Drupal, Magento, Prestashop), will probably take a major place in the field of marketing—particularly marketing automation—in the coming years.
Beyond the transaction amount, this also signals that new resources and budgets are on the horizon for developing these software and managing the Drupal and Mautic communities. So this is a second piece of good news in a row for Mautic, which will very likely benefit greatly from these new cash and ambition resources.
Yet another very good reason for Webmecanik to keep up its efforts (as the largest independent third-party contributor) with the Mautic community, with the upcoming release of version 3, which will offer users many new features—though that’s still a secret.
