It is useful to combine marketing automation with a CRM. On the one hand, you will be able to nurture and qualify your leads thanks to marketing automation, and on the other hand, thanks to the CRM, you will be able to track the customer or prospect journey. This way, salespeople will have access to the full history in order to make an offer that best meets their needs.
This therefore saves time and improves efficiency.
In this video, we will see how to configure the synchronization between Pipedrive (CRM) and Automation, so that your database is automatically updated as soon as a change is made on one side or the other.
Configuration in Automation
Log in to Automation, then go to settings by clicking on the cogwheel, then click on Plug-in.
Then click on Pipedrive to open the configuration, and you will of course need a Pipedrive account.
First, you need to enter the Pipedrive URL. This is the URL of your Pipedrive account, adding /v1 at the end of the URL.
Next, you need to enter the Pipedrive token, which you will find in your Pipedrive account settings. In Pipedrive, click on your name and then on settings. In the personal tab, click on API. Finally, copy and paste the token into Automation.
The Pipedrive synchronization is bi-directional. To push contacts to Automation, this is done via a webhook. You therefore need to enter a username and a password. This can be whatever you want. Fill in these 2 fields, then click apply.
Then go to the “features” tab and select “company/organization” if you also want to synchronize your companies, then click apply.
As soon as validation is complete, you will see the company mapping appear. If it does not appear, there may be an error with the Pipedrive URL or token, so check them and try again.
In the contact mapping tab, you need to choose which Pipedrive contact fields are to be mapped to which Automation contact fields (pay attention to required fields on both sides, which can cause synchronization issues if they are not mapped). Do this for the fields that are relevant to you, but first make sure that all your custom Automation fields have been created before doing so. Also, pay attention to required fields on the Pipedrive and Automation sides. When you are finished, you can click apply.
If you also chose to synchronize companies, you will need to do the same in the company mapping. Map your fields, then apply.
Go back to the 1st tab, publish the synchronization by clicking on “yes” and copy the Pipedrive webhook URL because you will need it very shortly. Save and close.
The configuration is now complete on the Automation side; we will now go to Pipedrive to continue.
Configuration in Pipedrive
Click on your profile, then on “settings” and finally on webhooks to create new webhooks that will allow us to push contacts from Pipedrive to Automation.
Create a new webhook using the green button with the same name, at the top right of your screen.
- For the event action, choose the asterisk (*) so that all actions are included,
- For the event object, choose “person”, which is equivalent to a contact, since we want to synchronize contacts,
- Set the permission level to you,
- The destination endpoint URL corresponds to the previously copied URL, which we will therefore paste here,
- The username corresponds to the identifier (webhook user), and the password is the one we also defined earlier in the configuration. Click save.
If you also chose to synchronize companies, you will need to create another webhook. However, the event object will no longer be “person” but “organization”. Each time, you will need to enter the same information as before.
How to synchronize contacts?
There are different ways to send contacts to Pipedrive from Automation:
– Via actions: campaigns, forms, or points
– Via cron jobs (available from March 2018) > request it from support at support@webmecanik.com
- Via a campaign
Add the “add to integration” action, choose Pipedrive, and save. Once a contact enters your starting segment, it will automatically be pushed to Pipedrive.
- Via a form
In the form editor, go to actions, then choose “add a contact to the integration”, select Pipedrive, and save. Thus, each time the form is submitted, the contact will be sent to Pipedrive.
