The email builders on the market mostly all have usability shortcomings. These technologies, often built several years ago, become a compilation of features without putting the user back at the heart of the project. Except that when you pile up features, there is often a lack of perspective that makes it possible to see the project as a whole in order to find a balance.
This is what we want to do, start from a new, blank foundation, allowing us to put the user at the center of the need. Here is the story of the Brick email builder.
The new stack
For the quality of the HTML code and long-term sustainability, we have not changed our mind: the right solution is to work on the open-source building block mjml.io. The latter, constantly evolving, will allow us to rely on the evolution of HTML alongside the developments that email clients (gmail, outlook, hotmail, apple mail & etc.) may undergo.
The challenge is the interface, the usability. This is where our new main objective lies.
By choosing to start from a blank page, we freed ourselves from all the constraints that may exist in other technologies.
We also trained and were supported by UX professionals with extensive web and mobile experience. Indeed, there is a lot to learn from mobile interfaces which, without a mouse and keyboard, double down on simplicity to enable the use of interfaces with a single thumb.
Functional and ergonomic advances

A new foundation also means the freedom to introduce new features that, sometimes structural, are not so easy to integrate. And the world of email is changing and will soon change even more with the integration in the coming years of interactive emails, as you may already have noticed when you have the option to accept a meeting directly in the email with the yes / no / maybe buttons.
On the functional side, we promise that in the next article we will tell you about the new features and developments.
Give us your ideas and tips
You are our clients, our users. So if you have tips and tricks, or have even noticed with a pure-play email marketing provider a feature or a bit of interface that makes the difference, the thing not to forget, share it with us!
