As we mentioned in our previous blog article, the release of the new email editor by Webmecanik represents the opportunity to integrate new functional and ergonomic improvements to Mautic.
We have not changed our minds concerning the quality of the HTML code and its durability: the right solution was to work with the Open Source mjml.io brick. Its constant evolution will allow us to improve the HTML in parallel with the developments that email clients may experience (Gmail, Outlook, Protonmail, etc).
The challenge always was the interface, the UX. This is where our main objective comes into play. By choosing to start from zero, we have removed all the constraints that may exist in other technologies.
Without further ado, here's a small preview of what’s to come.
Mobile preview
You had the rendering web preview when you created your email. We have now implemented two preview buttons, one for desktop and another for mobile email preview for the majority of email clients that respect certain rules. Next step: the integration of an email rendering tester on all clients such as Email On Acid or Litmus.
Undo/Redo
A mistake? One click and the action is reversed. The result of a series of actions doesn't fit? Cancel several times and it's done. Just like it should be.
Pre-header integration
You could do this by adding a first sentence at the top of your email. This text is very important because it is the first piece of content visible in your contact's inbox after the subject of the email.
This text is going to be easily manageable, invisible in the email content, but well recognized by your email audience!
Multi-column sections
You already have multi-column sections. You're used to them, they are placed one under the other in a mobile (we say they "stack"). New parameters will be available to meet your graphic design needs in just a few clicks!
Dynamic content
Dynamic content is one of the keys to personalization for a powerful and targeted message. Here is a sneak peak of what you can do with dynamic content. More polished, more adapted to different browser resolutions: you will appreciate the "query builder".
Drag and drop
New interface, new technology. We have put at the heart of our new editor the ergonomics and the best tools to provide you with a drag and drop as fluid and intuitive as possible.
Coming up next
Brick, the next-generation email editor is almost ready. You will be able to take it in hand and create your emails more freely, with new possibilities to integrate your creative ideas and improve your customer experience. But Brick is also a great step for the future of emailing. We will soon be working on other functional improvements that you can't miss.
Here is a list of projects we would like to develop in the upcoming months. Don't hesitate to share your thoughts with us.
- Making the A/B decision automatic.
- Integrate Spam Assassin to rate the quality of email content.
- Integrate Litmus or Email On Acid to get an overview of emails on different media/clients.
- Save an email section as a "section template".
