Marketers from all over the world use Mailchimp for their email marketing needs. Mailchimp is, indeed, the leader in this field and has very attracting prices. It is true that the tool works well when you’re starting out, but if you need something a bit more robust and want to take a step further and do more than newsletters, it is maybe time to think about another alternative.

To help you evaluate your options, we’ve put Mailchimp and Webmecanik Automation side-by-side to clarify their strengths and weaknesses. However, it is important to highlight that they are different kinds of solutions - the first provides email marketing services and the other is a marketing automation software -, with different goals and, of course, different prices.

Mailchimp

Among the pros that Mailchimp has, we can find its quality service, with an easy-to-use interface accessible for almost anyone to use. The reports are also nice, with in-depth analytics on email engagement.

While the emailing platform does have lots of native API integrations with other softwares, it is usually more effort than it’s worth and this makes creating “smart campaigns” based on workflow triggers or events in your CRM very difficult. Mailchimp's internal automation system doesn't support a workflow view and you won't be able to easily create actions outside of emails (eg: sending SMS, interacting with your CRM, automatically updating contact information, etc).

Webmecanik

Webmecanik Automation, on the other side, allows you to intelligently identify, segment and nurture unknown website visitors, leads and customers. Basically, it covers all the steps of the conversion funnel. The platform was made to lead an inbound marketing revolution.

Its main feature is the campaign builder, where you can choose from many triggering criteria and conditions to send the right information to the right leads, considering their behaviour. This kind of campaigns can be really relevant, as they automatically qualify the database using the advanced segmentation. At the convenient moment, you can push the hot leads to your integrated CRM and alert your sales representatives.

The drawback in this case would be that with great powers, comes more complexity. Webmecanik Automation can feel overly complicated and overly designed for newcomers. Even considering its very affordable price in the range of marketing automation providers, it is a serious investment in both time and skill-level. Nothing that the right training and a responsive support cannot solve.

The verdict

Ultimately, it’s clear that Mailchimp and Webmecanik Automation aren’t really competing, as they target different audiences, with different goals. We recommend you to ask yourself the following questions and download our Comparison Chart if you still have some doubts.
